Used Furniture Consignment | Dog-Cat Condo
Wow, very comprehensive! I'm glad my cats weren't watching as I perused this information, though. They think they have it pretty easy now (and they do) but they'd probably insist on having one of these cat platforms or scratchers or condominiums if they saw them here! Congratulations on your LOTD award!
Sonotubes or Quik-tubes are brand-name sturdy cardboard tubes used as molds for wet cement. They are essential for building cat condos and other cat structures. Covered with carpet or rope, cats love to lay in them and play inside them. They come in several different sizes, including 8", 10", and 12" in diameter, and different lengths as well. They are usually available in the concrete or masonry section of your local home improvement store.
This kitty condo can be used both inside and outside. Sturdy and with a weatherproof finish, your cats can have their own vacation home to “get away from it all.”2. SOLID WOOD~NATURAL WOOD. Quality cat furniture is made with natural wood products that are good for building furniture. These products are real wood plywood and kiln dried and milled lumber like 2x4's and 4x4's. Avoid cat condos made with cardboard, treated wood, landscape posts and manufactured wood like OSB (engineered strand board), MDF or particle board. Cardboard is cheap and lightweight. Treated wood is toxic. Landscape posts are not suitable for building because they are have immature growth rings that warp, crack and twist within months (after you've paid and left positive feedback). Manufactured wood products are also toxic because they are pressed with formaldahyde which give off volatile organic compounds in the form of fumes. While these products may suitable for exteriors on residential homes (which are then sandwiched by siding, insulation and drywall), they have no place for pet furniture. If anyone tells you otherwise, ask them if they'd use OSB on the interior of their homes instead of drywall? Or better yet, ask a local builder why they don't build houses this way. Unfortunately, the reason these manufactured products are used in a lot of pet furniture is because they are up to 300% cheaper than real wood products. That makes for a nice fat profit margin at the expense of your kitty's long-term health. Ouch!To some people, cats are stealthy, slinky creatures that are associated with dark magic, witches, and Halloween. To more than 33 percent of American households, however, cats are part of the family and are deserving of love and attention. Perhaps the 85 million cats owned as pets in United States account for the growing predominance of pet supply companies and their products. Cat lovers willingly devote money, their hearts, and often much of their homes to making sure their furry friends are comfortable and content. Cats, especially kittens and younger felines, need a certain level of activity and engagement to stay healthy and to stay out of trouble. For these reasons, cat owners should consider buying used cat furniture, such as a cat tree or cat condo, that will offer cats several perches from which to survey their domestic domain. When searching for cat furniture, pet owners should consider several factors to make sure they buy items that suit their own needs, as well as those of their beloved feline. It is essential to consider the space available in one's home and what each cat needs, but it is also important to consider what is feasible for each pet owner in terms of the price of used , the assembly required for each piece, and the style of the cat condo or tree. Although pet owners want to do what is best for their cats, they should not allow their love for their cats to overshadow things like reason or hygiene.
