If you have cats you know that one of the most important things is having a good litter that not only clumps well but has odor control. The worst thing is having company over and them being able to smell the duties of your cat. I have a kitten and my husband wanted to use non clumping litter for a long time, but it never hid the odor at all. I told him no, we need to find a litter that not only clumps but masks the odors. We decided to try a litter and while it clumped, we found that it still had some odor control issues. When I had the opportunity to try Tidy Cats 4-1 Strength cat litter I was excited to see how it worked.
This is our Tidy Cats 4 in 1 Strength Cat Litter Review. Tidy Cats 4 in 1 Strength cat litter is advertised as tracking down all four offenders of clean: ammonia odors, urine odors, fecal odors, and weak/messy clumps. This is accomplished through a 99.6% dust-free product. In addition, it has a powerful clumping agent that results in hard clumps fast. This product is available in 14 and 20-pound jugs and 35-pound pails.I received a full size, 8.5 pound, "jug" of the Tidy Cat Lightweight with Glade from Purina to try for free and absolutely loved it - it was lightweight making it easy to use, low dust, tracking was minimal, the scent wasn't overwhelming, and the clumps were tight and easy to clean, just like the claims. Then I went to purchase some, and was hit with sticker shock - the 8.5 pound size was between $13-$14 at all the stores I visited; I can buy the 35+ pound regular weight clumping Tidy Cat for under $10 when it is on sale - no comparison. Lower the price and I'll purchase. The Tidy Cats 4 in 1 Strength Cat Litter Review earns 3 out of 5 cats. A decent solution with no glaring issues, but isn’t going to knock any features out of the park as well. We like the 4 in 1 strength approach and think with a few small tweaks it could be a great litter rather than simply a good litter. We would like to see them tone back the strong perfume smell and optimize the clumping ability a bit more.We decided to try out the Tidy Cats Lightweight cat litter, and went with the 4-in-1 option because it didn't have any sort of scent (Febreeze, etc) listed on the front and we hoped that meant it would be light on smell. We use an enclosed litter box due to space restrictions, so strong smells are not good. Well, when we poured the litter into our box, the smell was overwhelming. We've used other Tidy Cats litter in the past, and while it did have a strong scent, it was never this bad. It's the next morning now, and our entire apartment smells like this sickening-sweet smelling cat litter. My cats hate it and do not want to use the litter box any more, and we are very unhappy with this purchase.I have 4 cats and been using this product for about 4 months or so. I second some of another customer's comments about this product. "Yes yes. This stuff is light. But if you actually want a litter that clumps and decreases odor and mess.....run from this lightweight stuff. When you scoop, the clumps (half the time) crumble apart, basically negating scooping to decrease odor. It seems as though it DOES want to clump on my cats feet, and between his toes." I too believe it's driving them crazy, and is probably why a couple of them have been digging in my plant's pot of dirt - they're trying to help remove the litter that's stuck to their paws and in between their toes. And one of them every now and then "has taken up relieving themselves in front of the litter box" as opposed to going inside to take care of their business. I thought my dog (a Toy Poodle) was doing it on their litter tracker outside of the cat litter boxes, but it was actually the cats. "Let's not talk about how much this stuff is tracking through my house because it wants to travel on my cats feet instead of just doing what it's supposed to. Ugh." (double UGH!) Now, I have to sweep my floors every other day and spot clean areas throughout the house (every other day too) that have dried cat litter on it that came off their paws. Everywhere. And also, the product advertises that it's also like the other products in the brand, "99% Dust Free". This is not true at all. This has never happened to me before using Tidy Cats products. Every time I clean the litter box and go to wash my hands after, I see dust on my nose hair when I look up in the bathroom mirror. Eeeww. I'm brown skin, so easier to see right away. Thank God though for nose hair. How much further would this dust go into my body without it. I have been using the "Purina Tidy Cats" brand of cat litter for over 10 years, the " Immediate Odor Control, 24/7 Performance, Instant Action, Dual Power, Glade Tough Odor Solutions, 4-In-1 Solutions, and finally the Lightweight glade formula." I've used all of the products 1 product at a time, for more than 4 months or so before trying a different version. Only mixing when transitioning to another product of Tidy Cats. Some a little longer until I saw a new version from the brand. The "Instant Action" formula has been the best product from the Tidy brand out of all the scoopables. Again, the "Lightweight with glade" product is nice and light, but it is not good overall. Thank you.I’ve been using the new litter for the past couple of weeks, and the cats have really taken to it, and it does a great job of eliminating odors. I think I will still continue to buy Tidy Cats light weight litter, simply because I do the grocery shopping for our household, and it’s just easier for me to carry (not to mention, it’s super effective), but this new 4-in-1 product is also very good. If you’re a Tidy Cats user, and you enjoy experimenting, this product is definitely worth a try.
