Innova Cat Food Review 2017 | ConsumerAffairs
Hello Jodie, I have not done a review yet of Nutro Grain Free Adult Cat food Duck & Potato recipe but this is a good cat food with big kibbles. This cat food will give a lot of fuel to your cat (it has pea protein and chicken fat) so mix it with wet canned food and make sure your cat does a lot of playing every day. Drinking water is essential in any cat diet. Good luck! Unfortunately, all the cat food listed here seem to have round or small kibble.
Thank you Ingrid for reviewing, great to hear other opinions. I feed the 3 chicken based formulas of this range to my cat for half her meals, the other half is usually raw (balanced). She has a mildly sensitive tummy but never had an issue with the Holistic Select. The choices of good quality cat food are limited where I live, so very happy with this as part of her diet.
When reviewing the ingredients list for senior cat food you want to see a quality animal protein listed first with digestible carbohydrates, animal fats, and supplementary protein sources featured near the top of the list. Avoid any products that list a carbohydrate first, especially products made with low-quality fillers like corn, wheat, and soy ingredients. Look for other beneficial ingredients like probiotics (usually dried fermentation products) and chelated minerals in the ingredients list as well. If the list is full of ingredients you can’t identify or if the lower quality ingredients are at the top of the list, avoid the product and choose something else. The quality of your cat’s diet is the primary factor in determining the length and quality of his life. If you take the time to learn the basics about cat nutrition you will have a firm foundation of knowledge to support your selection of a commercial cat food product. It is important to remember, however, that the nutritional needs of cats change as they age – the formulation of nutrients they need as kittens is different from what they need as adults and again as senior cats. To make sure your senior cat gets the nutrition he needs, start your shopping with some of the top-rated brands reviewed above. We have been feeding our cat Iams Dry Cat Food for Indoor Weight and Hairball Control (turquoise bag) for the last couple of years without a problem until now. I bought a new bag at the beginning of April (2017) at Walmart and for the last couple of weeks he has been throwing up very frequently after eating it. I am concerned it could be the cat food. I called the customer service number on the bag to make a report. They said there have not been any similar reports made to them recently. However, I don't know that they would necessarily tell me even if there have been. I saw the other review written here (April 2017) stating a similar issue with their cats. It makes me wonder if it really is the cat food. If this is happening to your cats PLEASE report it to Iams. They are sending me a voucher to buy a fresh bag, but I am a somewhat reluctant to do so.When I tried to post my comment I was denied. The site indicated that there was profanity present in my review. That was absolutely untrue. So they managed to keep my 1 star review from being posted about their product. So I have provided a copy of the review I attempted to leave: After a slow two week transition to this food my 13 year old cat suffered his first seizure. The seizure lasted from the time I discovered him suffering at 5:30 am until the emergency vet gave him a sedative - about 20 minutes of pure hell. My cat was diagnosed with diabetes 7 years ago. I was worried the seizure was due to low blood sugar. But the test run by the emergency vet said his blood glucose was in the normal range for a diabetic cat.According to the Iams website, this Iams Adult Original with Chicken cat food formula is designed to promote optimal health in adult indoor cats.
