The following adverse reactions have been reported in cats after taking Program Flea Control:
PROGRAM Flavor Tabs are indicated for use in the control of flea infestations on dogs and in their habitat. PROGRAM works by interrupting the flea life cycle, thereby preventing the build-up of flea infestations on dogs and in their surroundings. PROGRAM is indicated for use in dogs six weeks of age and older. Treatment should be initiated at least one month before the onset of the flea season and continued throughout the entire flea season to prevent the build up of a flea infestation. PROGRAM Flavor Tabs are also indicated for control of active mid-season flea infestations. However, in this situation, flea adulticides should be used concurrently at labelled rates for the first 6-8 weeks. This provides time for PROGRAM to impact flea population dynamics by interrupting the life cycle.
The Program flea medication is given once a month.
Over 13 months, the Veterinary Practitioners’ Reporting Program of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP VPR) received reports involving 11 cats who required hospitalization following the application of a concentrated permethrin “spot-on” flea product. Four of them did not survive. Also, between 1994 and 1998, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) received reports of 125 cats who became sick or died after having concentrated permethrin applied. The Program Yellow is part of our flea control regimen. I partner Program with Capstar pills. The Program Yellow are in pill form which is easier to administer to my cats than the liquid form of Program for cats. It's important to not break the regimen since it is birth control for fleas. I haven't used anything else since I discovered Program. I previously used Advantage to take care of my cat's flea problem, and it worked immediately - but my cat absolutely hated the smell which lingered on her body. She would howl and run off when she saw me approaching with the Advantage vial, and I hate being the villain once a month. So now I've switched to Program. It's kind of a pain mashing the tablet and mixing it up into wet catfood. Also, it takes a couple of days to take effect. But - it does work well, and my cat is very happy. I will definitely buy Program tabs again. Last spring we gave the Program Tabs a try because NOTHING worked on Bobby, our cat, the summer before (2009). We actually broke down and bathed Bobby in flea bath products turning the bath water dark pink from dissolved flea pooh (or dried Bobby blood). Never before did we have such a flea problem, and we were ready to try something new. We crushed up a Program tab in a small amount of wet cat food and Bobby never had a clue, ate it all. We used up all 6 tabs over the summer as directed. We never saw a flea on the cat the whole summer. We purchased the Capstar tabs along with the Program tabs but never had to use any last year. We have already started this year's Program tab program on Bobby and our new addition Macks. We HIGHLY recommend Novartis PROGRAM Tabs. We believe that Fleas & Ticks can be guarded against without having to use harsh chemicals either internally or topically. Insecticides or pesticides are not your only option. Finally, there is a program that works and is really beneficial for your dog and cats health.
