My vet put my cat on Hills Prescription Diet K/D cat food for kidney disease
Our vet noticed slightly elevated kidney enzyme levels, the last time we took in our cat. She promptly prescribed Hill's Prescription Diet k/d dry and wet food. Our cat took to it easily... Heck, she devoured it!

She genuinely seems to enjoy it more than her previous brands of dry and wet catfood. We've been feeding her Hill's k/d exclusively, and she has yet to tire of it. Her stool is consistent, she's still very energetic & pleasant, her coat is shiny and plush, and her teeth stay nice and clean. The only negative, from my perspective, is that the dry food stinks really bad. I have to hold my breath during, and scrub my hands after feeding. However, from my cat's perspective, it's great. If the sound of the bag doesn't rouse her, the smell seems to wake her right up.

Upon our most recent visit, the our vet indicated that her kidney enzyme levels have improved slightly, and her health is as good as ever, which is a sign that Hill's Prescription Diet k/d Feline Dry Food is the good stuff. I want to thank all of the loving parents who posted here and stopped me from falling into the abyss that Hill's Prescription Diet seems to have skillfully crafted for so many of us who find ourselves wanting to listen to the veterinarian who we've trusted with our precious babies for so long and who we've probably even - in my case - come to admire. When my little black panther who is 19 years young started to be constipated too often and cry at the box I took him to his doctor. We ran blood tests and found that they were really way better than expected for his age. (Thank You God). His doctor had worried about his kidney but the count was not off except for I think she said by one point? This was last Friday, 3 days ago. However, In addition to the medication for constipation, she sent him home with some Hill's Prescription Diet k/d dry kibble to give along with his regular food.Hill's nutritionists and veterinarians developed Prescription Diet k/d clinical nutrition to support your cat's kidney health. In fact, k/d is clinically tested nutrition to improve & lengthen quality of life. Hill's Prescription Diet k/d Feline is a complete and balanced food that provides all the nutrition your cat needs. For adult cats. My cats are on the Hills Prescription k/d chicken flavored dry food. All 3 love it, but won't touch the seafood flavor. It's really expensive, $25 for a 3 lb bag. Also, they've been out of it for a month or so.WhatÍs so valuable about Hill's Prescription Diet k/d Feline Kidney Care Vegetable/Tuna Stew Can Cat Food? I didn't want her to eat this food because I did not feel comfortable with the quality of the ingredients. I agreed because my vet said it would help her. I was feeding her the dry K/D because she didn't care for the canned and didn't eat enough. The only canned K/D she would tolerate is the Ocean Fish. I fed her a new can and after she ate I picked it up and noticed a piece of rubber in the food. It was approx. 1/2" x 1/4". I worried that she might have eaten smaller pieces. I took the can with the rubber piece back to my vet's office, where I purchased it and they will get with their rep. regarding this.My 20 year old cat needed a prescription diet a few years ago. She is not a real fan of the dry food, although she will eat it if she is hungry enough. We tried a few of the wet foods available, but she turned up her nose to those. After visiting the vet the other day, she gave me a sample of the new Hills Prescription Diet k/d Metabolic stew w/ tuna or w/chicken. My cat loved them both. Of course with any special diet, human or animal, you need to take a second job to be able to buy them. Thank goodness for coupons. If my cat is happy, I'm happy!
