It will be a lengthy process but indeed it will change, some of the first changes: #1-Any person that will be working with the birds must have some background experience and be fully trained by Petcetera, #2- All the birds will be quarantined before being sold. #3- All the birds will be checked periodically for diseases. #4 – A vet will also be coming in a few times a month and be checked. #5 -Obviously no one can stop a bird from dying, but if a bird dies during the night or the day, the bird must be removed immediately, put in a plastic bag and either frozen or taken to a vet to determine why it died. #6- The aviaries that the birds are kept in will be steamed and fully cleaned. #7- There will be no nests placed in the cages to prevent inbreeding and spread of disease. #8- birds kept in the rear of the store will not be kept in the dark all day and night And will be 2 or 3 birds to a cage. This is a BIG one………#9- Any employee found to be abusing birds (or any animals) will immediately discharged and/or charged with animal cruelty.
The longer changes will be constructions of better cages and food, vitamins dispensed regularly to the birds, and more birds will be purchased locally. So that means any breeders in the provinces of Canada will have a chance to supply the store, this of course will take time to do, but the first ones will become policy immediately! So this is a big step for us Bird lovers! 😀 😀On June 16, 2009, Petcetera officially filed for bankruptcy; however, Urbani announced on September 1, 2009 that he has bought 20 of Petcetera's most profitable locations out of liquidation, reopening them under the new corporate name of New Petcetera Retail Ltd.On June 16, 2009, Petcetera officially filed for bankruptcy; however, Urbani announced on September 1, 2009 that he has bought 20 of Petcetera's most profitable locations out of liquidation, reopening them under the new corporate name of New Petcetera Retail Ltd.
