Location types—Esri Maps for MicroStrategy | ArcGIS

The MicroStrategy product documentation is available in various formats and locations:
MicroStrategy provides a free, cloud-based mapping solution that supports out-of-the-box GIS integration with the MicroStrategy platform. GIS—geographic or geospatial information system—technology allows informed business decision-making because of its ability to capture, analyze, and present business intelligence data that is linked to location. MicroStrategy's GIS integration lets you visualize your data on maps so you can identify and analyze relationships, patterns, and trends in your data. To set up MicroStrategy's free, cloud-based mapping solution, refer to . To learn more about using the out-of-the-box mapping solution, see the and the .
Geo Location prompts are defined in MicroStrategy Web. For instructions, see .

You must map the ESRI geo-attributes (that is, the ESRI attributes that will be used to determine locations, such as regions or points, on the map) to the related geographically-based attributes in the MicroStrategy metadata. For example, if the locations on the ESRI map are the zip codes in the USA, you map the ESRI zip code geo-attribute to the MicroStrategy zip code attribute. If, on the other hand, the locations are specific points on the ESRI map, you map the ESRI latitude and longitude geo-attributes (or attribute forms) to the MicroStrategy latitude and longitude attributes (or attribute forms). The MicroStrategy report or report grid (in a document) to which the widget will be applied must contain at least one ESRI geo-attribute mapped to a MicroStrategy attribute. It can contain any number of other MicroStrategy attributes that are not mapped to ESRI geo-attributes, including attributes that are not geographically-based.
