Established in 1950.
Hollywood Feed is a natural and holistic pet specialty retail store with a strong focus on customer service and improving the lives of pets everywhere. We began as the local feed store on the corner of Hollywood Street in Midtown Memphis. We counted the Zoo, the shelter, and the local Police force as our original house accounts. Over the next three decades, it was the place to get pet food, good advice, and friendly service. In the 80s, as the city closed in around Hollywood Feed, the store began focusing on household pets. After being customers for many years, the new owners acquired Hollywood Feed with the intention of building on this great legacy.

I emailed the other day, and already got a response - I was curious about the colustrum and phosphorus and ash levels. Does the phosphorus level sound high? If so does anyone know of a lower phosphorus grain free dry food?
Thank you for your questions and your interest in our pet food. The
typical analysis for phosphorus in our cat food is 1.92% and the Ash
level is 9.4%. Cats really perform well on a high protein food, they
obligate carnivores thus thrive on our Legacy with the very high meat
The colostrum is derived from bovine colostrum and has several very
positive benefits including passive immunity to a number of common
issues, the lactic acid also helps with oral care, it provides flavour
and is excellent form of protein.
Horizon Legacy Cat and Kitten Food is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO cat food nutrient profiles for all life stages Bengal Circus:
FYI, here is my recent experience with Horizon Legacy. We tried a sample bag with our 2 male Bengals (used it as "treats" for nail trimming, weighing, etc.). Both cats seemed to like it, but one really liked it. So, we decided to try a bag in our dry food rotation. Normally, we mix 2 kinds of kibble together. The beginning of April, we began a slow transition - switching 1 kibble for Horizon Legacy. 3 days after beginning, 1 of the cats (don't know which one) vomited some undigested food. In the past 3 wks. we've had 7 episodes of vomiting of undigested kibble - most times, it was the cat that really liked the food in the first place. At first, I thought it might be cases of "scarf and barf", but then both cats began to eat less of their kibble than normally, and both started to lose a little weight. Everything else about them was fine - coat, activity level, peeing/pooping, etc.
I emailed our vet about this, and she felt that there was something about the food that didn't agree with them, and the weight loss was most likely due to decreased intake. She thought it sounded like a food intolerance - sometimes it is a different ingredient, sometimes it is the amount/proportion of an ingredient - can tolerate small amounts but not large amounts. I had actually wondered this myself, since there are a number of ingredients in the Horizon Legacy that are not in several other brands of high quality/grain-free kibble.
So, as of today, we're switching back to one of the brands that they've had before and done well on. Too bad really, because all in all, I think Horizon Legacy is a very good kibble. I plan to email the company my experience with their food (just for their info). They may want to "rethink" their formulation a bit?? JMO.
Now, that's not to say that others may try this kibble, and their cats do well on it. I would be interested in hearing if anyone else has tried it and either had no problems with it, or had similar problems as I did. Ingredients: Horizon Legacy starts with a fantastic foundation of meat protein from either chicken or fish. Fiber and very minimal carbs come from peas and pea starch, while very high levels of essential omega fatty acids come from salmon oil, flaxseed and egg. Legacy includes a lot of unique and antioxidant rich fruits and veggies including bok choy, pineapple, apples and broccoli, as well as both probiotics and prebiotics for extra digestive support. This food contains yucca, helpful with allergies, skin and coat, and glucosamine and chondroitin for joint support. Horizon also includes a ‘custom blend’ of special enzymes that help with nutrient absorption, digestion, immunity and detoxification and purification.
