Cats R Us is a Non Profit 501(c)3 cat and kitten rescue organization in the Annapolis, Maryland area whose focus is educating communities about non-lethal and humane care of community cats; controlling the community cat population through TNR (Trap, Neuter, and Return); and the promotion of low-cost community spay/neuter clinics and initiatives. TNR means community cats are humanely trapped, vaccinated, sterilized, and ear-tipped (for identification) by veterinarians.
Rude Ranch Animal Rescue, Inc. was founded in 1997 in response to the desperate plight of abused and feral cats in the Maryland area. Our goals are to find loving, permanent homes for all that have been placed under our care; to provide a safe haven and rehabilitation to feral and neglected cats rescued from abusive situations; and to put an end to because of pet over population. Last Chance Animal Rescue operates in Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia. We primarily take in cats from more than 40 high-kill shelters in eight states and provide disaster-relief services for small pets. We partner with more than 30 PetSmart and Petco stores in the region and provide full service in-store cat adoptions. Pet Rescue of Maryland is a non-profit animal rescue dedicated to saving the lives of dogs, cats, kittens and puppies. We are staffed only by volunteers and rely on the kindness of our community to financially support our efforts. We do not have a central shelter. All of our animals are fostered in our homes as if they were our pets. This allows us to assess each animal and help find the home that best fits with their needs. We treat each animal as if they are part of our family until they become part of yours.Alley Cat Rescue is dedicated to the well-being and welfare of ALL cats: domestic, stray, abandoned, and feral.
ACR works locally & nationally. In the DC Metro/Maryland area ACR runs a hands-on rescue program for homeless, abandoned cats and finds them new homes. We also run a spay clinic to TNR feral cats.
ACR works nationally through our Cat Action Teams to help others help cats nationwide.
ACR is one of the world's pioneers in new, innovative ways to control feral cat colonies, using nonlethal, humane methods of control (TNR).
ACR has information on all aspects of Trap-Neuter-Return, including rabies control, and facts & myths on cats and wildlife predation.
Cats have been scapegoated and ACR is concerned about this as it encourages cruelty towards cats. It also deflects attention away from the real reason for wildlife depletion: the over-development and misuse of land.
