So this isn’t really a question about general cat stuff bc my future roommate knows her stuff, but more about how people in teeny tiny apartments manage having a pet (my future roommate currently lives in her childhood house and has never lived in a small place). Idk about square footage, but my apartment has one bedroom, one bathroom, a living room, and a little tiny kitchen—it’s small. And we can’t figure out where we’re going to put the litter box! small apartment cat litter box, where to keep a litter box in a small apartment, use a top entry litter box to reduce mess and save room, cats love jumping in and out.It leaves us with a mere handful of options. Moving is not one of them. Due to the lease, we're not able to move for quite a while, probably not until the LO is walking. (It may be a small apartment, but it's a great location, almost all utilities paid, etc, a good find in such a rural city.) We could move the litter boxes into the living room, but it adjoins the kitchen. That's two litter boxes within 30 feet of the food prep area, even if you put them against the back wall. We could put them in the kitchen, same issue, there's not even a wall between the living room and kitchen. The only problem I see with having the boxes well-hidden out front is that if/when he passes a stool and misses the box, we're suddenly VERY near to the food prep area. We're good with spot cleaning, we don't have carpet, but it's the fact it's by food prep...not like it'd be anywhere, but its kind of a gross thought. Another option is to turn the living room into the bedroom and nursery for a while, until we can move or find some other method of dealing with the box issue. If you live in an apartment and you are looking for the best litter box that will provide you with the solution that will look after your cats litter tray automatically while cutting out bad smelling cat odor and insuring your cat has a clean litter box every time they visit.
