Follow me on Twitter: Grab a place on the couch, or go find a seat for you're in for a wonderful Dr. Seuss treat! The Cat in the Hat who goes by that name is played by Mike Myers of comedy fame! It starts with two kids on a cold, cold, wet day their mom is at work, andd they've no games to play! Then in walks the fun in the form of a Cat who pulls out the laughs from the brim of his hat. Things really get wild when the Cat and his crew (who go by the names of Thing One and Thing Two) take over the house of Conrad and Sally in this fine family film that's right up your alley!Join the Cat in the Hat as he makes learning to read a joy! It’s a rainy day and Dick and Sally can’t find anything to do . . . until the Cat in the Hat unexpectedly appears and turns their dreary afternoon into a fun-filled extravaganza! This beloved Beginner Book by Dr. Seuss, which also features timeless Dr. Seuss characters such as Fish and Thing 1 and Thing 2, is fun to read aloud and easy to read alone. Written using 236 different words that any first or second grader can read, it’s a fixture in home and school libraries and a favorite among parents, beginning readers, teachers, and librarians. Then something else awesome happened. YouTube user "But Without" remixed the It trailer, using Mike Myers' version of Cat in the Hat to replace the terrifying clown. This movie was physically painful to sit through, maybe because (like many people my age, and younger) I grew up with Dr. Seuss and loved his books - funny, clever, whimsical and subversive at the same time. "The Cat in the Hat" sucks all of the interest and spark out of the story, and Mike Myer's performance as the Cat is mostly bewildering. Why the Borscht Belt accent, the unfunny patter, the inappropriate jokes, the charmless costume? I had to go back and re-read the books to see the real problem: the books are SIMPLE. This movie is OVERBLOWN and way, way too long.
You don't expect every kids' movie to be Toy Story or The Iron Giant, but this one set a new low. How could Mike Myers need the money?
