Think Twice Before you Buy A Teacup Persian Cat-Kittentoob
We are a very small CFA and TICA cattery. We breed only a few litters a year and provide some of the most healthy, beautiful and well socialized babies you can buy. PURE PERSIAN TOP SHOW LINES.
Of the 700+ cats that our rescue places per year, a great majority are Persians. People often wonder how we get so many of these wonderful cats, especially because they are known for their sweet nature and charming personalities. The answers are pretty simple; there are more breeders of Persians than any other breed, and people do not usually realize how HIGH MAINTENANCE a Persian is. The cute ball of fluff in the pet store begs to be an impulse buy, but within a year it has turned into a large matted clump of fur that nobody wants to deal with. It is extremely important that people considering this breed understand the responsibilities that come along with a Persian.
If you're considering a Persian for adoption, you probably have a good idea of what you want. You likely have lifestyle requirements and personality wishes for your Persian cat. For instance, maybe you need to find a Persian who loves dogs, or one who likes to be around other cats. This is where adopting an adult pet is such a benefit! When you adopt an adult cat from a rescue group or animal shelter, what you see is what you get. Adult cat personalities are already formed, and you'll be able to spot the characteristics you're looking for much easier than if you buy a Persian kitten. Rescue organizations, and some shelters that provide pet adoption counseling are able to assess the personality of each cat, and will carefully match you up with the right cat to fit your needs. Adult pets are a known quantity.Remember, it's not a Persian cat, unless it is CFA registered. This means that the bloodline has been determined and established. If you buy a kitten, make sure to register your cat right away. Sorry, even if it looks Persian, it isn't unless it has the proper documentation. We offer shipping to most major airports within the United States. Kittens fly via United Airline’s Pet Safe Program. Kittens ship and arrive on the same day. Being kept in a climate controlled environment, kittens are never exposed to harmful weather elements. Pet shipping via United Airlines is not available to all US airports, but this service is available to many major international airports. Only certain airplanes are used to ship pets thus limiting flights and space. The buyer (consignee) is required to show proof of identification at the time of pickup. Pickup locations vary depending on the airport. We will provide a complete itinerary showing airport numbers, times, and pickup locations. Payment is made on the shipper’s (our) end at the time the kitten is released to the airline. Buyer (consignee) will not need a carrier as the kitten will arrive in an airline approved carrier which the buyer takes home with the kitten. Food, water, and bedding travel with the kitten in addition to a health certificate. Major airport hubs include complete on-site vet facilities. In our over 10 years of shipping kittens, we’ve never incurred a n incident where a kitten was injured. The shipping process, pending weather delays, typically goes quite smoothly and kittens handle the process well.As you can see by the above list, it would be best to get these items well in advance of bringing your new Persian cat home. Obviously, by planning ahead for your new Persian you can avoid the impulse buying of a cat that so many people do.Reputable breeders never sell their kittens through pet stores. Good breeders want to be personally assured that the people who are buying their cats are doing so for the right reasons and understand what they’re getting into. Before you buy a kitten, consider whether an adult Persian might be a better choice for your lifestyle. Kittens are loads of fun, but they’re also a lot of work and can be destructive until they reach a more sedate adulthood. If you are interested in acquiring an adult cat instead of a kitten, ask breeders about purchasing a retired show or breeding cat or if they know of an adult who needs a new home.
