in Tampa, Florida is one of the largest big cat sanctuaries in the world. It’s dedicated to rescuing abused and abandoned big cats of all shapes and sizes. Some of them are former performing cats from circuses and some are people’s former “pets” rescued from the exotic wildlife trade. The dedicated folks at Big Cat Rescue know cats, so whenever a big cardboard box makes its way to the sanctuary, it’s immediately put to good use as a playhouse for the cats!

So is it any wonder that big cats wouldn't mind a box of their own as well? Such was the discovery by the workers at Big Cat Rescue, an animal sanctuary in Florida. When presented with a box, the felines – tigers, a Siberian lynx, lions, and panthers – go through all the moves. They approach, they sniff, they paw, they nudge ... and then some perform the ultimate cat-and-box trick – they hop inside, curl up, and take a cat nap. So here’re pictures of cats in boxes because this is the Internet and sometimes you just need a big mental health break to cleanse the palatte. Except these cats are big cats (hence the name) and the boxes, too, are also big. It’s universal, seemingly, that cats love boxes. Everyone knows that cats, kids and dogs love boxes. They like big boxes and they cannot lie. There is just something so unexplainably entertaining about a box and a cat, and that’s why people love to allow their cats to play with boxes all the time. I know that when I have a package delivered, I simply cannot wait to get my hands on the package when it’s dropped off at the door. I mean, I cannot wait to tear into that box (and take out my new belongings before discarding the box for trash). Cats, though; they love a box. That’s why the company Cat Hampurr had a genius idea. They noticed that the big cats at the Blackpool Zoo also seemed to love big boxes.Has there ever been a house cat who did not find itself ensconced in a cardboard box left upon the floor? Big, boxes, little boxes, tape outlines of boxes, you name it. Add Big Cat Rescue on Google+ They saw them playing with them in their cages and thought that that it might be fun to team up with the zoo to create a line of fun boxes for the cats that have their own flavors and scents so that the cats had something of their own to play with. They did just that, and now these big cats are enjoying their Cat Hampurr boxes like no one else. The only question we have about this program they’ve designed is whether or not they feel that the big cats enjoy this as much as the small domestic cats with which they usually deal? Or do all cats simply like big boxes and they cannot lie?
