Four-year-old Jeremy Triantafilo is doing much better Wednesday afternoon, the day after a dog attacked him while he played in his front yard on Eagle Vista Drive in Bakersfield. His cat, Tara, background, is credited for chasing the dog away. Jeremy needed emergency medical aid for the dog bites to his leg. His mother, Erica, also needed medical aid from bites she sustained while protecting her son. A security camera video has gone viral on the Internet, attracting national media attention.

BAKERSFIELD - A cat came to her best friend's rescue when a young boy was attacked by a dog in his driveway in Southwest Bakersfield and it was all caught on video.
The surveillance video shows the boy, 4-year-old Jeremy, playing on his bicycle. He was coming home from school when he wanted to fly a kite. Jeremy has mild autism.
The neighbor's dog, an 8-month-old labrador/chow mix, sneaks up behind him and bites his leg.

She also said the dog belonged to a neighbor and is now under observation.

As if being beaten up by a cat wasn't bad enough, TMZ has learned ... the dog was picked up by animal control yesterday and the decision has been made to put it to sleep.
Sources tell us ... the dog was aggressive even after it was captured and officials decided it was in the best interest for everyone involved to euthanize the canine.
